Scanning & stock
Scanning: the five modes
Scan Out, Scan In, Waste, Count and Add Item — what each does and when to use it.
Pick a mode at the top of the Scan tab, then scan. The mode stays on until you change it. On a keyboard, F1–F5 switch modes.
| Scan Out (F1) | Each scan takes stock out — items pulled for use. |
|---|---|
| Scan In (F2) | Each scan adds stock — deliveries and new purchases. |
| Waste (F3) | Takes stock out and logs it as waste (spoilage, comps, breakage) so it shows separately in reports. |
| Count (F4) | Scan an item, then enter how many are actually on the shelf. Replaces the quantity. |
| Add Item (F5) | Scan to add a new item, or to edit one you already have. |
Scanning more than one
Change the quantity before scanning to take out or add several at once.
Made a mistake?
Every scan shows under Recent scans with an Undo button. Undo on a count puts back the quantity from before the count.
Unknown barcodes
Scanning a barcode that isn’t an item yet lists it under Unknown barcodes. Add it as an item from there (getstoqd looks the product up online to fill in the name when it can), or dismiss it.
Offline
If a device loses its connection, keep scanning. The badge at the top shows how many scans are waiting, and they sync by themselves.
